Lakhipur : In preparation for the 79th Independence Day, the Lakhipur Sub-Divisional Administration convened a high-level meeting to ensure the event is observed with due dignity and grandeur. The meeting, held at the conference hall of the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO), was chaired by SDO Dhruba Jyoti Pathak.
The session began with a review of last year’s celebration proceedings, followed by a comprehensive discussion on this year’s arrangements. Participants shared their suggestions, and several new proposals were adopted to make the celebration more inclusive and vibrant.
As per the finalized schedule, the official Independence Day programme will commence at 9 AM on August 15 at the playground of Lakhipur Higher Secondary School (Saradacharan Playground), where the national flag will be ceremonially hoisted. The National Anthem will be performed by members of Lakhipur Sangeet Vidyalaya along with representatives from the Lakhipur Regional Committee of the Barak Upatyaka Banga Sahitya Sanskriti Sammelan.
The day’s proceedings will begin early, with patriotic songs broadcast from 5:30 AM through the permanent PA system of the Lakhipur Sub-Divisional Information & Public Relations Department. National flags will be hoisted at private buildings and institutions at 7:00 AM, followed by flag hoisting at government offices at 7:45 AM and at educational institutions shortly thereafter.
Additional programmes include wreath-laying at the martyr’s memorial, distribution of fruits among patients at Lakhipur Health Centre, Harinagar Health Centre, and Labak B.P. Kedia Hospital, and illumination of both government and private buildings in the evening.
The preparatory meeting was attended by a host of key officials and dignitaries including Superintendent of Police Prithviraj Raj Khawa, Circle Officer Rituparna Bhadra, Assistant Circle Officer Chandan Kalita, Assistant Commissioners Lakhyajit Gogoi and Pankhi Hazarika, Executive Officer of Lakhipur Municipality Amrit Hanse, Municipality Chairman Mrinal Kanti Das, Food & Supplies Superintendent Pradip Kumar Saikia, SC Board Chairman Debashish Roy, OBC Board Chairman Abhiram Sharma, and Nehru College Professor Subhajit Chakraborty.
The meeting also saw the presence of officials from various government departments, education sector representatives, respected citizens, volunteers from social organizations, local journalists, and staff of the Sub-Divisional and Public Relations offices.
The SDO concluded the meeting with a heartfelt vote of thanks to all attendees, marking the formal beginning of preparations for a proud and spirited Independence Day celebration in Lakhipur.
