SVCC members, including Dr. Siddharth Bhattacharjee, Himadri Das, Niranjan Das, secretary Dipankar Deb, Raihan Mazumder, Abhijit Das, Subhashish Choudhury, and others, said the programme aims to honour not only legendary sportspersons of the past but also those who have made lasting contributions to the development of sports in Barak Valley.
“The idea is to celebrate the spirit of the game and honour those who paved the way for future generations. This year, we will recognise around 10 players and present lifetime achievement awards to six distinguished individuals. Additionally, we will felicitate Lenrul Football, the champions of the U-13 State Level Youth Football League 2025,” said SVCC secretary Dipankar Deb.
The award ceremony will begin at 6:30 pm at a hotel in Ambicapatty. Over the years, Remembering Our Heroes has become a symbol of SVCC’s dedication to preserving the legacy of the region’s sporting icons and unsung heroes. The event is expected to witness participation from former players, sports lovers, and dignitaries from across Barak Valley.
