Silchar: On the eve of India’s 79th Independence Day, Kabuganj Janata College in South Cachar organised a blood donation camp on Thursday in collaboration with the Cachar Cancer Hospital and Research Centre. The event, held on the college premises, saw enthusiastic participation from teachers, non-teaching staff, and students.

A total of 25 units of blood collected at the camp were handed over to Dr. Shabnam Barbhuiya, Medical Officer and Blood Bank In-Charge of Cachar Cancer Hospital. Also present were Jahirul Islam, Technical Supervisor of the hospital’s Blood Centre, along with two nurses. The programme was conducted under the supervision of Sangeeta Das, Assistant Professor of History and In-Charge of the college’s NCC Girls Unit.

Highlighting the significance of the initiative, College Principal Dr. Debashish Paul said, “Blood donation stands above all other donations because neither the donor nor the recipient’s identity is known. It transcends barriers of religion, caste, or creed, and this silent act can save a life.”

NCC Officer Senior GCI Mousumi Nag of the Senior 62 Assam Girls Battalion and other dignitaries were also present during the event.
