HOPE AND HYGIENE TO SANTHONG COMMUNITY HALL RELIEF CAMP, MOIRANG

KRC TIMES Manipur Bureau

Imphal:  Network In Action (NIA) – Imphal Chapter, in collaboration with CMO – Bishnupur District, successfully organised a Free Medical Camp at Santhong Community Hall Relief Camp, Moirang, with the motto – “Together for a healthier community”.

The medical camp was organised as the first-ever Community Service Project (CSR Initiative) of NIA Imphal, aimed at bringing timely healthcare, psychological support, and hygienic living conditions to the relief camp inmates.

Over 200 displaced individuals and families directly benefited from the initiative. The camp was designed to provide holistic healthcare and wellness support, with specialised services delivered by doctors and medical staff across four key departments; namely, General Medicine, Paediatrics, Gynaecology and Dermatology, along with Pharmacists, provided from the CMO – Bishnupur District. Free blood test facilities were also arranged, enabling early diagnosis and preventive care, both from the CMO, as well as from the NIA.

As part of the camp, a comprehensive range of essential medicines was sponsored and distributed by NIA at of cost to all inmates in need. The list covered a wide spectrum of healthcare requirements – ranging from common cold, cough, fever and pain relievers, to gastrointestinal medicines, antibiotics and anti-infectives, as well as vitamins and nutritional supplements. Specialised medicines and materials were also included to address skin-related issues and women’s health needs.

Recognising the importance of mental health, especially among young students in challenging circumstances, a dedicated counselling session was conducted by a Clinical Psychologist, arranged by NIA. The session focused on managing peer pressure, coping with stress and anxiety, and nurturing resilience and hope. Students were encouraged to develop positive coping strategies, empowering them to remain motivated and focused on their future despite hardships.

NIA Imphal also distributed disinfectants such as bleaching powder and phenyl to the Relief Camp authorities. These materials will support the sanitisation of the surroundings, ensuring a healthier and safer living environment for camp inmates.

The medical camp stood out not only as a healthcare project but also as a demonstration of community-driven leadership. Members of Network In Action (NIA) Imphal, comprising business owners, entrepreneurs, and corporate leaders from diverse industries, came together to support the initiative- both in resources and in presence.

The camp concluded on a hopeful note, with plans for more CSR initiatives in different forms for underserved communities across Manipur in the near future. NIA Imphal will continue creating platforms where entrepreneurship and empathy walk hand in hand for the greater good. About Network In Action: NIA Northeast India, led by Lairenjam.
