IMPHAL : Manipuri Prodigy Shines at Asian Open Schools Invitational Swimming Championships 2025. Aavya Khomdram, an 8-year-old Manipuri girl, has made her state and country proud by securing the 2nd runner-up position at the Asian Open Schools Invitational Swimming Championships 2025, held in Bangkok, Thailand.

The championships took place from September 6-7, 2025, at the Assumption University Aquatic Centre in Suvarnabhumi Campus. Aavya’s outstanding performance earned her an impressive collection of medals, including 4 golds, 4 silvers, and 1 bronze. With a total score of 206 points, she outshone 149 other participants from 18 Asian nations, showcasing her exceptional swimming skills.

Aavya is the daughter of Dr. Amarjit Khomdram and Bonny Khomdram from Haobam Marak Irom Leikai, Imphal, Manipur. Currently residing in Hyderabad, she studies in the 3rd standard at Sanghamitra School, Telangana. She has been training under the guidance of renowned coach John Siddiqui at Zions Sportz Swimming Academy, Bowrampet, for the past 4-5 years.
