Sanjeev Roy said Zubeen was a bridge between the Barak and Brahmaputra valleys and among diverse communities
KRC TIMES Barak Valley Bureau
Silchar: Youths Against Social Evils (YASE) has appealed to Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma to arrange for the ashes of singer Zubeen Garg to be brought to Barak Valley for public tribute.
In a memorandum sent by email on Tuesday, YASE requested that the ashes be kept for a day at central locations in Cachar, Hailakandi and Sribhumi, and later immersed in the Barak, Dholeswar and Kushiyara rivers.
YASE president Sanjeev Roy said Zubeen was a bridge between the Barak and Brahmaputra valleys and among diverse communities, and the valley should have the chance to pay its respects.
The group has also urged the three district commissioners of Barak Valley and all local MLAs, MPs and ministers to support the demand, setting aside political differences.
