No election schedule announced yet, confirms Commissioner Srishti Singh

Silchar: The Silchar Municipal Corporation (SMC) has taken strong exception to the circulation of an unauthorized document on certain media and social media platforms, which has led to confusion about the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) for the upcoming municipal elections.
SMC Commissioner Srishti Singh, clarified that the State Election Commission has not announced any election date or enforced the Model Code of Conduct for the Silchar Municipal Corporation. She urged all concerned to verify any official communication directly from the Corporation before sharing or interpreting it publicly.
“The State Election Commission has not declared any Model Code of Conduct or announced any election date for the Silchar Municipal Corporation,” Singh said, adding that no document should be circulated or cited without proper authorization and verification.
The Commissioner further appealed to media outlets and social media users to act responsibly, ensuring that any information shared is authentic and verified, to avoid public confusion or unnecessary speculation.
The Silchar Municipal Corporation reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and stated that all official information will continue to be released only through authorized and verified channels.
