I’ve heard that people who supported the Liberation War are being removed from the Bangladesh Army. In the law enforcement agencies, in schools and colleges, in offices, in the courts — everywhere in the country — in the name of “reform” those who stood for the Liberation War are being pushed out and opponents’ people installed.
This is being done so that if the Islamist forces who opposed the Liberation War come to power, no one from any quarter will be able to cause them trouble. The religious profiteers have tightened their grip everywhere.
No one will now be able to save this country from the hands of Islamic fundamentalists. I blame every political party. While enjoying the comforts of power they did not think about the good of the country. For the last fifty years the rulers have used religion for their own ends.
Out of religion a monster was born — and that monster will come to power; anyone with foresight would have understood that. There was absolutely no foresight — what can I say! Perhaps some foresight existed, but it counted for nothing for them.
So be it. Let those who want a caliphate come. Let Sharia law be enacted. Let the country be run by God’s law. People will feel in their bones what Islam really means. Haven’t the women of Iran and Afghanistan felt it? People will have to live in dark caves of barbarism, incivility, brutality, and dishonesty.
If people want to see the light of civilization, they will rise up and fight against Islam. That struggle will be the true Liberation War.
