Silchar: In a decisive joint operation, Cachar Police and the Assam Rifles—Sentinels of the North East—seized 401 grams of heroin and a mobile phone from Ujan Tarapur. The recovered contraband is estimated to be worth around Rs.3 crore.

The coordinated action reflects a continuing crackdown on narcotics networks across the Barak Valley. Police sources said the operation was part of a sustained effort to disrupt trafficking routes and target those behind the supply chain.

“The message is clear—drugs have no place in Assam,” said an official involved in the operation, emphasizing that strict measures will continue against those involved in the illegal trade. The accused and seized materials have been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway.
