Silchar: The Bright Boys’ Club of Das Colony, Silchar, celebrated Kali Puja this year with impressive grandeur, drawing residents from across the area. The pandal, adorned with lights, traditional decorations, and floral arrangements, became a vibrant center for both religious and cultural festivities.

A standout of the celebration was the devotional play Mahishasurmardini, which depicts Goddess Durga’s triumph over the demon Mahishasura. Staged inside the pandal, the performance wove music, dialogue, and expressive acting into a captivating evening. Long queues of spectators gathered to watch, many praising the production for its faithful storytelling and spiritual depth.

The evening also featured prayers and rituals conducted by local priests, lending a devotional dimension to the celebration. Attendees said the event offered a rare opportunity to experience cultural entertainment and religious observance in one setting.

Founded in 1990, Bright Boys’ Club has been a focal point of community life in Das Colony. Over more than three decades, it has hosted religious festivals, cultural programs, and social initiatives, earning recognition for preserving local traditions. Members said the annual Kali Puja celebration aims to strengthen community bonds while honoring the region’s rich heritage.

Residents appreciated the club’s efforts, noting that such events foster a sense of unity across generations. This year’s Kali Puja will be remembered not only for its grandeur but also for the seamless blend of devotion, drama, and communal spirit.
