His demise has been widely mourned across the region

Dholai: Senior Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) functionary and noted educationist Banko Bihari Das passed away early morning on October 26 at his residence in Barjalenga Part VI, under Barjalenga East Gram Panchayat in the Dholai constituency. He was 73.
According to family sources, Das breathed his last around 5:45 a.m. He is survived by his wife Reena Das, sons Biswajit and Bikramjit, daughter Barnali, brother Monmohan Das, sisters Basanti and Jayanti Das, two daughters-in-law, one granddaughter, and a large circle of admirers.
A lifelong RSS member, Das had been associated with the organisation since his youth and served as Sanghchalak (head) of the Narsingpur division for several years. Known for his dedication to education, he retired in December 2011 from the Government Middle School, Liru (Likabali) in Arunachal Pradesh’s Lower Siang district. After retirement, he remained active in community service and later served as Headmaster of Narsingpur Saraswati Vidya Niketan.
His demise has been widely mourned across the region. Dholai MLA Nihar Ranjan Das visited his residence soon after the news broke and paid his last respects. Calling the death “an irreparable loss to society and the nation,” the MLA prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and extended condolences to the bereaved family.
Several dignitaries and local leaders attended to pay tribute, including Zilla Parishad member Pompi Nath Choudhury, district BJP executive member Amiya Kanti Das, former Bajrang Dal South Assam Prant convener Amalendu Das, regional panchayat member Deepa Nath, GP chairperson’s representative Shyamsundar Chauhan, Barjalenga East GP vice-president Ritangshu Sharma, Mridul Nath, Mrinmoy Nath, Joyprakash Bhar, journalist Banjan Kanti Das, social worker Subhash Nath, and RSS workers Pinak Das and Rajdeep Paul, among others.
Family members said Das had been battling diabetes and the effects of a stroke for some time. His final rites were performed in the afternoon on the banks of the Salganga River, attended by family members, friends, and RSS colleagues.
