Aizawl: The Assamese film Roi Roi Binale was released yesterday at RemPham’Ly Cinema in Aizawl, becoming the first-ever Assamese film to be screened in Mizoram — a milestone made possible through the efforts of the Assam Association, Mizoram University.

The theatre was filled to capacity as audiences gathered to watch the final on-screen appearance of the late Zubeen Garg, whose passing has left an irreplaceable void in the cultural fabric of Assam and the Northeast.

Before the screening, a moving condolence ceremony was held in his memory. Members of the Assamese community, students, and local admirers paid tribute to the legendary artist, recalling his remarkable contribution to music and cinema. Many described the evening as both emotional and historic — a moment that celebrated Zubeen’s enduring legacy even as it marked a new chapter for Assamese cinema’s reach in the region.
