Guwahati : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), on Monday, unveiled several strategic organisational appointments to strengthen its election campaign for the upcoming Assembly elections in Assam and Tamil Nadu.
Baijayant Panda, a National Vice-President and Member of Parliament, has been appointed as the Election In-Charge for Assam, signalling the BJP’s proactive approach towards the 2026 Assembly elections in the state. The elections are slated for April 2026, and the BJP is ramping up its preparations well in advance.
The party also named two prominent leaders as Co-In-Charges for the Assam elections: Sunil Kumar Sharma, an MLA and the Leader of the Opposition in Jammu and Kashmir, and Darshana Ben Jardosh, a former Union Minister. These appointments are part of the BJP’s strategy to bolster its organisational framework in Assam.
In a related move, Union Minister Piyush Goyal has been entrusted with the responsibility of steering the party’s election efforts in Tamil Nadu, highlighting the BJP’s focus on consolidating its base in key states ahead of the polls.
