Guwahati: With the Assembly elections approaching, signs of shifting political ground are becoming more visible in Assam.
At a special joining programme held at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bhawan in Guwahati on Sunday, several leaders and workers from the Indian National Congress and other parties formally joined the Bharatiya Janata Party.
The group was led by former Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president Bhupen Borah and party general secretary Sanju Barua. The programme was attended by Assam BJP state president Dilip Saikia along with other senior party leaders.
Party sources said the development reflects a growing alignment of leaders and grassroots workers with the BJP’s political direction ahead of the upcoming elections.
