Calls for Public Vigilance Ahead of Roll Revision
KRC TIMES Manipur Bureau
Manipur: Former Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh has said that more than 70,000 fake voters were removed from the state’s electoral rolls between 2017 and 2022, stressing that the exercise was carried out in a transparent manner and placed before the House.
He noted that the process did not stop after 2022 and continued with seriousness, leading to the detection and deletion of more illegitimate entries.
Referring to the upcoming Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, Singh said it would provide another chance to examine the voter list closely and identify any remaining fake entries. He described the process as vital to protecting the integrity of democracy.
Singh urged citizens to cooperate with authorities in identifying individuals who may have entered the system unlawfully after crossing borders. He called on people to remain alert and support lawful efforts to maintain the sanctity of the electoral process.
He added that such moments test the responsibility of citizens and stressed that vigilance is necessary to prevent what he described as systematic demographic manipulation by vested interests.
