Lakhipur: Assam Minister Kaushik Rai on Saturday inaugurated and launched several development projects in Lakhipur under the Lakhipur Legislative Assembly Constituency.
The minister first initiated the construction of the Ariban Jagannath Mandap, also known as the Manipuri Mandap, at Ward No. 10 in Lakhipur town. The project is being implemented under the Barak Valley Development Department formed under the leadership of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, with an estimated cost of Rs.30 lakh.

Speaking on the occasion, Rai said the mandap will play an important role in supporting the social, cultural and religious activities of the local Manipuri community once completed. He added that the project would also contribute to the overall development of the area.
Later in the day, the minister attended the inauguration of two key infrastructure projects in Lakhipur town. These include the Lakhipur Udyan, constructed at a cost of Rs.1.10 crore, and a Visarjan Ghat built with an investment of around Rs.50 lakh. Rai said the projects will improve civic facilities for residents and enhance the beauty and public infrastructure of the town.
He also inaugurated the newly built Rabindra Bhatika at Phulertol in the Lakhipur constituency, constructed at a cost of Rs.10 lakh. The minister expressed hope that the park will enrich the cultural environment of the area and serve as a peaceful recreational space for local residents.
Lakhipur Municipal Board chairman Mrinal Kanti Das, along with Rina Singh, Sanjay Kumar Thakur and Gunjan Kar, were present during the programmes.
