Lakhipur: In a fresh political development in Assam, more than 200 workers from the Congress party joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday, expressing support for the leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

The joining took place with participants from Ramnagar, Lalpani, and Phulertal Noyagram GP areas. The workers said they were inspired by the policies and ideology of the BJP and decided to leave Congress to support the ruling party.

Assam Minister Kaushik Rai welcomed the new members and congratulated them on their decision. He stated that the development of Assam is being driven under the present government and more people are showing faith in its leadership.
