Imphal: Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, on Thursday inaugurated the Khwairakpam Krishnagopal Memorial Building at Ningthoukhong in Bishnupur district, marking a step forward in strengthening healthcare services in the region.

The newly constructed building, developed by the Gojendro Foundation within the premises of the Community Health Centre (CHC), Ningthoukhong, has been formally handed over to the Government of Manipur. The facility is expected to support the expansion and upgradation of the CHC, with a special focus on maternal healthcare through a dedicated maternity ward.

Minister for Home and Youth Affairs and Sports, K. Govindas Singh, along with MLAs from Thanga, Nambol, Oinam, Moirang, Kumbi and Lilong constituencies, attended the programme.

Speaking at the event, the Governor said the inauguration was not just about opening a building but about strengthening hope, dignity and care, especially for women and mothers. He highlighted the resilience and role of the Ima community in shaping society and promoting peace, adding that the initiative reflects a larger vision of improving healthcare through collective effort.

He also expressed hope that such initiatives would inspire more organisations and individuals to contribute to public welfare and nation-building.

The Governor praised the Gojendro Foundation for its contribution, calling it a strong example of cooperation between public service and philanthropy. He stressed that better maternal healthcare would lead to safer motherhood and healthier future generations.

During the programme, representatives of the CHC submitted memoranda to the Governor, raising concerns over service delivery and shortage of equipment.
