Alipurduar: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on April 16 expressed strong confidence in the BJP’s prospects in the upcoming elections, claiming the party would secure 100 seats in Assam and 200 in West Bengal.

Addressing a public gathering in Alipurduar, Sarma said the BJP is poised for a decisive mandate, citing the party’s focus on governance and security.

He highlighted border control as a key campaign issue, stating that strict measures have already been implemented in Assam and Tripura. Stressing the need for similar action in West Bengal, Sarma said, “The need of the hour is to seal the border in West Bengal.”

The remarks come as the BJP intensifies its campaign in West Bengal, where border security and illegal infiltration are emerging as major electoral themes.
