Case to Be Handed Over to NIA

Imphal: The Manipur government has strongly condemned the killing of two civilians in a militant attack at T.M. Kasom village in Ukhrul district on Saturday afternoon. According to official sources, the incident took place around 2:30 pm when suspected militants attacked five vehicles travelling along the Imphal–Ukhrul road. Two innocent civilians lost their lives in the assault.

Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said a case has been registered at Litan Police Station and an investigation is underway. He announced that the case will be handed over to the National Investigation Agency for further probe.

Expressing deep sorrow, the Chief Minister extended condolences to the bereaved families and described the attack as a serious threat to peace and communal harmony in the state. He termed the incident a “heinous and cowardly act” against unarmed civilians.

Security forces have launched search operations to track down those responsible. The Chief Minister said the perpetrators will be identified and brought to justice at the earliest.Both the Chief Minister and Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam are closely monitoring the situation. A high-level meeting was also held to review the law and order scenario.

The Home Minister appealed to the public to cooperate with security forces in their efforts to apprehend the attackers. Reiterating the government’s commitment to safeguard citizens, the Chief Minister urged people to remain calm and not be provoked, stressing the need to maintain peace in the state.
