Police recovered cash amounting to Rs.80,230 from the accused, seven Android mobile phones

Silchar: In a major crackdown on illegal betting linked to the ongoing IPL season, Cachar Police dismantled a betting racket operating in Silchar and arrested five persons during a lead-based operation.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Samir Aziz, Saibul Hussain Laskar, Zahir Hussain Laskar, Rajat Kumar Singh, and Aftab Laskar.

Police recovered cash amounting to Rs.80,230 from the accused. Along with the cash, seven Android mobile phones were seized. Investigators also confiscated betting notebooks and account sheets, which are believed to contain records of transactions linked to the racket.

A case numbered 387/2026 has been registered at Silchar Police Station in connection with the incident. The accused were produced before the court on Monday.

Police sources said further investigation is underway to trace possible links and identify others involved in the betting network.
