During the search, police recovered 22 soap cases containing suspected heroin

Silchar: In a major anti-narcotics operation, Cachar Police seized 258 grams of heroin valued at approximately Rs.1.5 crore and arrested two individuals in the Digorkhal area under Kalain Police Station.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a police team intercepted a vehicle at Digorkhal and conducted a search in the presence of independent witnesses. The entire operation was videographed to ensure transparency.
During the search, police recovered 22 soap cases containing suspected heroin. Preliminary testing using a drug detection kit confirmed the substance to be heroin. In addition to the narcotics, police also seized two mobile phones and the vehicle used for transportation.
According to police sources, the seized contraband has an estimated market value of around Rs.1.5 crore. The two occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody, and legal proceedings have been initiated against them under the relevant provisions of the law.
The seizure is part of the ongoing anti-drug drive being carried out by Assam Police to curb the trafficking and distribution of narcotic substances across the state.
