Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has expressed deep grief over the death of five Indian Air Force personnel in the AN-32 aircraft crash at the Jorhat Air Force Station.
Describing the incident as deeply painful, the Chief Minister paid tribute to the “brave Air Warriors” who lost their lives in the line of duty. He also conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families and stated that the Government of Assam is in touch with the concerned authorities to provide all necessary assistance.
The deceased personnel have been identified as Prashant Singh, Shubham Kumar, Jitendra Sharma, Khemaram Kumawat and Danish Alam.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also expressed sorrow over the tragedy, saying the nation stands firmly with the families of the deceased and that their service and sacrifice will always be remembered with pride and respect.
The AN-32 aircraft is a key transport aircraft of the Indian Air Force and is extensively used for logistics and transport operations across diverse and challenging terrains.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
