ZPM and MNF in Direct Contest

Aizawl: Voting for Mizoram’s lone Rajya Sabha seat will be held on Wednesday, with the ruling Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) and the opposition Mizo National Front (MNF) locked in a direct electoral contest.
According to Lalthangmawia, Additional Secretary of the Mizoram Legislative Assembly Secretariat, polling will take place from 9 am to 4 pm at the Mizoram Legislative Assembly building in Aizawl. Counting of votes is scheduled to begin at 5 pm immediately after the conclusion of polling.
The election is being conducted to fill Mizoram’s sole seat in the Rajya Sabha, the Upper House of Parliament. The ruling ZPM has fielded its spokesperson, K. Laltluangkima, as its candidate, while the MNF has nominated advocate and writer Zothansangi Hmar.
Meanwhile, both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian National Congress have decided to abstain from voting in the election.
With the state’s political focus firmly on the contest, all eyes are now on the outcome of the election, which will determine Mizoram’s representative in the Rajya Sabha for the upcoming term.
