Rohit, Kohli Return, Hardik Ruled Out
KRC TIMES National Bureau
New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against England, marking the return of senior batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to India’s 50-over setup for the first time since January.
The squad announcement comes ahead of India’s white-ball tour of Europe, scheduled to begin in July 2026, and includes key injury updates as well as notable selection decisions.
Virat Kohli has been named in the ODI squad despite suffering a hamstring injury during the IPL 2026 final in Ahmedabad last month. However, the BCCI clarified that his participation in the England series will be subject to mandatory fitness clearance.

In a major setback for the Indian team, star all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been ruled out of the England assignment after failing to recover fully from an injury sustained during the IPL 2026 season.
The Men’s Selection Committee has entrusted Shubman Gill with the captaincy, while Shreyas Iyer has been appointed vice-captain for the series.
The squad features a blend of experience and youth, with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli returning to strengthen the batting lineup. Wicketkeepers KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan have also been included, while the bowling attack will be led by Jasprit Bumrah alongside Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana and Prasidh Krishna.
India’s ODI squad for the England series: Shubman Gill (Captain), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer (Vice-Captain), KL Rahul (WK), Ishan Kishan (WK), Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh and Gurnoor Brar.
The England series will serve as an important preparation opportunity for India as they continue building their white-ball plans for upcoming international assignments.
