Silchar: Minister Kaushik Rai on Saturday chaired a review meeting at the Lakhipur Sub-Divisional Commissioner’s office with officials of various government departments and contractors to assess the progress of ongoing infrastructure and welfare projects in the sub-division.
During the meeting, the Minister reviewed road projects being implemented under the Assam Mala scheme, Chief Minister’s Unnoto Pakipath, Chief Minister’s Pakipath, tea garden roads, and other road development works. He also assessed the quality of road construction and discussed future plans.
The progress of major building projects, including the Lakhipur Sub-Divisional Commissioner’s office, a 100-bed district hospital, a mini stadium, school buildings, and a law college, was also reviewed.

The Public Health Engineering Department presented updates on drinking water supply schemes, rural water supply, and sanitation projects. The Power Department discussed measures to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply during the monsoon season and reviewed issues related to rural electrification.
The Education Department highlighted infrastructure development in schools, construction of new buildings, improvement of educational standards, and the supply of essential learning materials. The meeting also stressed the effective implementation of government education schemes and greater use of technology in schools.
Under the Social Welfare Department, discussions focused on the development of model Anganwadi centres, improvement of early childhood education, and the provision of educational materials for children.

The Health Department reviewed initiatives to improve healthcare services, strengthen primary health centres, and expand access to specialised medical services in rural areas.
The Water Resources Department discussed flood and waterlogging prevention measures, river and embankment protection, erosion control works, and the implementation of ongoing water resources projects.
The Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department reviewed the progress of livestock vaccination programmes, expansion of veterinary services, livestock-based livelihood initiatives, implementation of welfare schemes, and the proposed construction of a multi-care veterinary hospital.
The meeting was attended by Lakhipur Sub-Divisional Commissioner Dhruvajyoti Pathak, District Development Commissioner Rajib Roy, senior officials from various departments, and contractors associated with the projects. The meeting was held at the Conference Hall of the Sub-Divisional Commissioner’s Office in Lakhipur.
