101 Patients Screened at Free Eye Check-up Camp in Malugram

15 Cataract Cases Identified

Silchar: A free cataract detection and eye check-up camp was organised by Youths Against Social Evils (YASE) in association with the Prabhavathi Devi Charitable Trust at Malugram Girls High School on Sunday, benefiting more than a hundred residents.

A total of 101 patients underwent eye examinations conducted by ophthalmologist Dr. Subham Pisal and optometrist Animesh Debnath from Choudhury Eye Hospital. During the camp, 15 patients were diagnosed with cataracts and will undergo surgery at Choudhury Eye Hospital on their allotted dates. Free medicines were also distributed to needy patients.

Debojyoti Das served as the camp coordinator on behalf of the Prabhavathi Devi Charitable Trust. YASE Central Committee Camp In-charge Bandita Trivedi Roy expressed gratitude to the headmistress of Malugram Girls High School, Rupa Paul, and the school authorities for their support in making the camp a success.

The camp was coordinated by Maklishur Rahman Laskar of YASE, with assistance from Narendra Chandra Das, Himangshu Paul, Partha Sarathi Chakraborty, Haidar Khan, Prosonno Das and other volunteers.

YASE Central Committee president Sanjeev Roy said such initiatives have helped people in the greater Malugram area receive timely diagnosis and care for various serious eye-related ailments, while also creating awareness about the importance of regular eye check-ups.
