Silchar: The Cachar district administration on Tuesday sealed the controversial Parijat Restaurant-cum-Spa, located along the Silchar-Haflong National Highway, as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged illegal activities at the establishment.

The action follows a recent police raid at the premises during which Dr J.P. Das, who was allegedly associated with the establishment, was arrested. He was later produced before a court as the investigation continued.

Officials said the district administration sealed the restaurant-cum-spa after completing all necessary legal formalities. The move is part of the ongoing probe into the allegations surrounding the establishment.

Speaking to reporters, SP (Crime) Rajat Kumar Pal said the police would continue taking strict action against hotels, restaurants and spa centres found to be involved in illegal activities. He added that the investigation is in progress and further action will be taken based on the findings.
