Silchar | Responding to allegations linked to the high-profile spa case under investigation in Silchar, Silchar Medical College Principal Dr. Bhaskar Gupta and his wife, Sharmishtha Gupta, have issued a clarification stating that they are not the owners or operators of the spa, but merely the landlords of the premises where the establishment functioned.

In a statement issued on Friday, the couple said the property had been rented out through a legally executed lease agreement and that they had no involvement in, or knowledge of, the activities conducted inside the spa.
They further stated that the rental agreement contained a specific clause prohibiting any illegal activities on the premises and provided for immediate termination of the lease if such activities were found to be taking place.
According to the Guptas, the lease agreement has since been cancelled following the emergence of allegations surrounding the spa.
Expressing concern over the controversy, the couple said they were deeply distressed and embarrassed by the developments. They also reiterated their willingness to cooperate fully with the investigating authorities.
Calling for a fair, impartial and thorough probe into the matter, Dr. Gupta and his wife said they hoped the investigation would establish the facts and bring the truth to light.
