Silchar: A man sustained critical injuries after being hit by a speeding motorcycle while attempting to cross the Silchar–Jaintia Road at Harinchhara in Assam’s Cachar district on Saturday night.

The injured has been identified as Surya Lal Bauri, a resident of Bhitor Gangapur Part-I. The accident occurred in the Barkhola area when he was crossing the road and was allegedly struck by a speeding motorcycle. The impact threw him onto the road, leaving him seriously injured.

Local residents rushed to his aid and he was taken to a nearby healthcare facility for initial treatment. Owing to the severity of his injuries, doctors later referred him to Silchar Medical College and Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment. His condition is reported to be critical.

Police have launched an investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the accident and identify the motorcycle rider involved.
