Silchar: Gurucharan University celebrated its Foundation Day on Wednesday with due dignity and enthusiasm at the University Auditorium, marking the occasion with a series of academic and institutional events.

The programme began with the hoisting of the University flag by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Niranjan Roy.

Shri Dilip Kumar Dey, IPS (Retd.), former Inspector General of Police, Assam, and Forensic Advisor to the Government of Assam, attended the function as the Chief Guest. Prof. Jyothi Shankar of Karnataka State Open University delivered the Kiransashi Nag Memorial Lecture.

As part of the celebrations, the dignitaries inaugurated the University’s Alumni Office and unveiled the second issue of the University Newsletter. A documentary titled Gurucharan University: Towards Excellence, produced by the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, was also screened.

The University also honoured outstanding students by presenting Institutional Merit Awards to the top performers from various departments for the academic years 2024 and 2025.

The Foundation Day celebration concluded with the singing of the National Song and the National Anthem.
