Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has authorised the Guwahati district administration to extend the operating hours of restaurants until 3:30 am on July 15, 16, 19 and 20, allowing football fans to watch the FIFA World Cup semi-final and final matches without inconvenience.

The Chief Minister has also directed district administrations across the state to consider similar extensions in areas where Restaurant Owners’ Associations submit requests and there is sufficient public demand.

The decision aims to ensure that football enthusiasts can enjoy the late-night matches in a safe and convenient environment. Urging fans to celebrate responsibly, Himanta Biswa Sarma appealed to the public to enjoy the matches while making the most of the extended restaurant timings.
