New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday announced the formation of a high-powered task force to introduce comprehensive reforms in India’s public examination system. The committee has been constituted to strengthen transparency, improve security, and leverage technology in conducting national-level competitive examinations.

The task force will be headed by Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani and includes former Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka, former ISRO Chairman S. Somnath, IIT Madras Director V. Kamakoti, former Education Secretary Anita Karwal, and logistics expert Amrit Lal Meena.

According to the announcement, the panel has been entrusted with recommending measures to modernise the examination framework and restore public confidence in the system.

One of the committee’s primary objectives is to maximise the use of digital technology and secure protocols in conducting public examinations. It will also review and strengthen the functioning of the National Testing Agency (NTA) to prevent question paper leaks, malpractices, and other irregularities.

The task force will further prepare a long-term roadmap for examination reforms, including structural improvements and advanced cybersecurity measures to ensure the integrity of future competitive examinations.

The initiative comes amid growing concerns over examination security and is aimed at building a more transparent, reliable, and technology-driven testing system across the country.
