Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Monday congratulated Commonwealth Games medallists Saikhom Mirabai Chanu and Ch. Rishikanta Singh during a video conference held from the Cabinet Hall in Imphal.

The Chief Minister praised the two weightlifters for bringing glory to both Manipur and the nation with their outstanding performances at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.

Saikhom Mirabai Chanu clinched the gold medal in the women’s 48 kg weightlifting category, continuing her remarkable success on the international stage. Ch. Rishikanta Singh also delivered an impressive performance, winning the silver medal in the men’s 60 kg weightlifting event.

Congratulating the athletes, the Chief Minister lauded their dedication, perseverance and hard work, stating that their achievements would inspire aspiring sportspersons across Manipur and the country. He also wished them continued success in their future competitions.
