Guwahati: Assam Agriculture Minister Pijush Hazarika on Saturday said the flood situation across the state is gradually improving, even as the government has stepped up relief and rehabilitation measures in the worst-affected areas of Sivasagar district.

Speaking on the ongoing flood situation, the minister said the state government is working on a war footing to assist affected families and restore normalcy in flood-hit regions.

He announced that the construction of temporary shelters for displaced families in Sivasagar district will begin from Sunday as part of the rehabilitation process. The initiative aims to provide immediate accommodation to people who have lost their homes due to the devastating floods.

Hazarika said the government remains committed to ensuring timely relief, rehabilitation, and support for all flood-affected residents until normal conditions are fully restored.
