Imphal | Manipuri short film Toy Gun has added two more milestones to its festival journey after being selected for the Indian Competition section of the 16th Bengaluru International Short Film Festival (BISFF) 2026, India’s only Oscar-qualifying short film festival, and the 14th Jagran Film Festival 2026.

Written and directed by Thingnam Parshuram, the 14-minute 55-second film follows the story of a widowed mother and her young son living under the lingering shadow of past violence. Through a restrained and intimate narrative, Toy Gun explores how memories of conflict continue to shape everyday lives long after the violence has ended. 

The film has steadily gained recognition on the national festival circuit since its world premiere at the Hyderabad International Short Film Festival (HISFF) 2025, where it won the First Runner-Up Award. It later received the Best Non-Feature Film award at the North East India Film Festival 2026 and has since been screened at several national film festivals.

Its latest selections at BISFF 2026 and the Jagran Film Festival further strengthen the film’s growing national profile and highlight the increasing recognition of Manipuri cinema at leading film platforms.

Produced by Khumallambam Omeshwori, Toy Gun stars Leishangthem Tonthoi and Thingnam Parihanba in the lead roles, with music composed by Akhu Chingangbam.With its emotionally resonant storytelling and consistent festival success, Toy Gun continues to bring national attention to the richness and diversity of Manipuri cinema.
