Imphal | Manipur Chief Minister Y. Khemchand Singh on Wednesday reviewed the state’s internal security scenario, law enforcement measures and civic action initiatives during a meeting with Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Inspector General Clay Khongsai at the State Secretariat in Imphal.

The meeting focused on enhancing coordination between the Manipur government and the ITBP to strengthen security management while expanding public welfare initiatives across the state.

Sharing details of the meeting on social media, the Chief Minister said the discussions covered key issues relating to internal security, law enforcement and civil-military civic action programmes aimed at fostering peace and stability.

Singh commended the ITBP’s contribution to maintaining public security and praised its Civic Action Programmes for promoting trust between security forces and local communities through welfare, healthcare and outreach initiatives.

“The State Government remains committed to close coordination with all security agencies to ensure lasting peace, stability and public welfare,” the Chief Minister said.

Khongsai, a 1996-batch IPS officer from Manipur, previously served as the state’s Additional Director General of Police before being appointed Inspector General of the ITBP by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs in August 2023.

The meeting comes as the state government continues to engage with central security agencies to reinforce the security framework and support confidence-building measures in Manipur.
