Guwahati: An online exchange between Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and a student over a pending payment under the state government’s Jibon Prerana scheme has drawn attention on social media.

The student, Dipanwita Patgiri, reportedly contacted Sarma after she did not receive the promised financial assistance of Rs 10,000. She later shared a screenshot of their conversation on Facebook. In the exchange, Sarma replied in Assamese, “Dipanwita, pothiyaisu. pala ne?”, which means, “Dipanwita, I’ve sent it. Did you receive it?”

The authenticity of the screenshot was initially questioned by some social media users. However, Sarma later shared a screenshot of the conversation on his official Facebook account, confirming that the interaction had taken place. The exchange comes amid ongoing discussions over payments under the Jibon Prerana scheme. While some students have reported receiving the assistance, others are still waiting for the payment.

The incident has sparked further discussion online about the status of pending payments under the scheme.
