New Delhi | Shillong: Meghalaya BJP leader and senior MLA Alexander Laloo Hek said that the issue of the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA) Bill was discussed with the Union Home Minister during a recent meeting with Christian representatives.

MLA Hek, who met Amit Shah, said the Home Minister told them he had already discussed the matter with at least 35 Christian forums and leaders.

According to Hek, the FCRA Bill has currently been referred to the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) for further discussion and consideration.

He said the Home Minister assured the Christian stakeholders that once the JPC completes its process, they would be invited to Delhi for further discussions on the Bill.

Alexander Laloo Hek, popularly known as A. L. Hek, is a senior BJP leader and represents the Pynthorumkhrah Assembly constituency in Meghalaya. He has been elected from the constituency since 1998. He has also served as a cabinet minister in the state, holding portfolios including Health and Family Welfare, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, and Fisheries.
