The IBA and UFBU agreed to set up a high-level committee to resolve pending issues

The proposed three-day nationwide bank strike, scheduled for September 28 to September 30, 2026, has been deferred/called off after late-night conciliation talks.

The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) officially deferred the strike late Sunday night (September 27) after reaching an understanding with the Indian Banks’ Association (IBA).

Public sector bank branches, Regional Rural Banks (RRBs), and private lenders are operating normally today, Monday, September 28. In-person branch services—including cash handling, physical document processing, and cheque clearing—are functioning without disruption from the strike.

The IBA and UFBU agreed to set up a high-level committee to resolve pending issues, primarily the implementation of a 5-day banking week (declaring all Saturdays as holidays), pension-related matters, and revisions to performance-linked incentives.
