GUWAHATI: A 22-year-old Gauhati University student, Nimisha Thakuria, allegedly told her mother over the phone that she had been assaulted and injured, her father Deep Thakuria said.

According to her father, Nimisha made the call at around 2 am on Saturday and told her mother, “Ma, they have beaten me. They punched me in the chest and assaulted me. I am injured.”

The allegation has raised concerns over the circumstances surrounding the incident. Further details about the alleged assault and the people involved were not immediately clear.
