SILCHAR: The Assam University Teachers’ Association (AUTA) donated ₹1 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to support people affected by the recent floods in Upper Assam.
The cheque was handed over to Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma during his visit to Silchar on Wednesday. An AUTA delegation led by president Dr. Amit Kumar Das and general secretary Dr. Bishwa Ranjan Roy presented the cheque to the Chief Minister at the Assam Secretariat of Barak Valley.
The association said the contribution was raised through voluntary donations from its members and would support ongoing relief and rehabilitation efforts for flood-affected families.
During the interaction, AUTA representatives also invited the Chief Minister to visit Assam University, which he acknowledged.
Dr. Bishwa Ranjan Roy said AUTA stood in solidarity with the flood-affected people of Upper Assam and prayed for their safety, strength and speedy recovery.
