Guwahati | The Assam Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) has flagged the circulation of an allegedly morphed and AI-generated image of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on social media, saying the fabricated content was created to mislead people and damage his public image.

In a statement, the CMO said the image has no basis in reality and was artificially generated using artificial intelligence before being circulated on social media. The office said a case has been registered in connection with the creation and dissemination of the image and that those allegedly involved have been identified.

The CMO termed the circulation of fabricated content a misuse of social media and warned that strict legal action would be taken against all persons found to be involved. It also urged social media users to exercise caution before sharing or reposting unverified material.

The CMO appealed to those who may have already shared the image to verify its authenticity and avoid further circulation of the allegedly fake content. The development comes amid growing concerns over the use of AI-generated and digitally manipulated content on social media, particularly content involving public figures and political personalities.
