Assam Minister Attends Indo-Bangla Friendship Dialogue

Himanta Biswa Sarma, Minister Government of Assam on 1st November attended inaugural program of 9th India Bangladesh Friendship Dialogue in Cox’s Bazar in Bangladesh, on the theme of “Bangladesh-India Strategic Space”

The event is jointly Organised by the India Foundation and Bangladesh Foundation for Regional Studies.

Sarma said that ‘this vibrant forum has helped cement intellectual & political ties between two nations.

Ram Madhav, National General Secretary, Bharatiya Janata Party and Member, Board of Governors, India Foundation delivered the keynote address at the Inaugural Session.

‘India was the first country to recognize Bangladesh as an Independent nation and we look forward to celebrating the golden jubilee of our relationship echoed Ram Madhav

India stands with Bangladesh in dealing with the Rohingya refugee crisis both on diplomatic and humanitarian grounds stated Madhav. He said that ‘our two countries have travelled a long way together. This journey, based on the principles of mutual respect and sovereign equality will continue. We are proud of the economic progress that Bangladesh is registering under the visionary leadership PM Sheik Hasina. You have successfully uplifted millions of people out of poverty. Your economy is one of the strongest in the region. India believes in the Modi dictum of ‘Together We Grow’, and sees an opportunity for India in Bangladesh’s development’.

Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhary, MP & Speaker, Jatiya Sansad, Bangladesh while delivering her talk said “We all do better when we work together, our differences matter but our commonalities matter more”. She further added “it is the opportune movement to develop shared culture based on mutual trust between Bangladesh and India”
