National workshop on sustainable agriculture development and value addition of farmers’ products concluded

In the ongoing national workshop in Chitrakoot, emphasis was given to integrated agricultural technology to change the source of income

Chitrakoot : Under the joint aegis of Deendayal Research Institute and Vindhyachal Farmer Producer Organization Gwalior (FPO), the two-day national workshop ‘Integrated Technology for Sustainable Agricultural Development ‘ and ‘Rural Farmer Buyer-Seller’ Conference concluded on Monday in the Lohia Auditorium of Udyamita Vidyapeeth, Deendayal Campus, Chitrakoot.

In the closing session, Padmashree Laxman Singh, Padmashree Bharat Bhushan Tyagi, Padmashree Kamal Singh Chauhan, Shyam Bihari Gupta, Chairman Gau Seva Aayog, Nikhil Mundle, Executive Chairman Deendayal Research Institute, Om Tyagi, Vice President UCL were present on the stage.

Dr. Manoj Tripathi, who is coordinating the national workshop, said that through this workshop, suggestions are to be prepared for better coordination between farmers and government institutions. This workshop has proved beneficial for promoting sustainable and profitable agricultural systems.

In the technical session on quality seed availability, Dr. Gyanendra Pratap Singh-Director, National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources said that formal and informal seeds should be partially modified and sent to farmers to make them profitable.

New seeds were used more in the rural areas along the river, due to which their area remained limited. Technology transfer is necessary for seeds, which has not happened. It should be sent to farmers through farmer groups so that the condition of farmers can improve.

In his speech, Padma Shri Babulal Dahiya said that we have to develop such markets and do the farming that our fields demand. We should not do such farming that the market demands. We have spoiled the food chain which is necessary for our life and agriculture.

Earlier our farming was for the stomach, today’s farming has become the farming of the rich. We need traditional agricultural grains and need to grow good grains which can give us economic benefits and health benefits as well.

Technical Session- On the topic of single window access to the market, Dr. Shankarlal Jat, Director, Indian Maize Research Institute, Jabalpur said that we have to connect production, consumer and market. “Change the perspective, not the vision, change the source of income” We should make agriculture, animal husbandry, poultry, and goat rearing a source of income. We should get the maximum price and the buyer should get the goods at a low price, there has to be a balance between both.

Dr. Rajveer Singh, Deputy Director General, Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi, said that farmers face market problems which need improvement. The economic condition of farmers has improved in the last three decades.

A WhatsApp group of every farmer should be created so that every information can be sent to the farmers. There should be proper coordination between the producer, transporter and market in this chain.

Padmashree Bharat Bhushan Tyagi said that in today’s circumstances, we will have to move forward with solutions based on the system. We should understand the principles of nature and move forward with scientific thinking.

Padma Shri Uma Shankar Pandey said that the national sage Nanaji Deshmukh worked in Chitrakoot for the education system from pre-primary to university. Deendayal Research Institute is working on all aspects like roads, water, agriculture etc. At present, the Uttar Pradesh government has purchased the maximum wheat of Bundelkhand, which is a sign of the progress of Bundelkhand.

In the technical session on strategic planning for farmer enterprise relations, Dr. Shantanu Kumar Dubey, Director, ICAR Attari Kanpur, said that farmer groups play an important role in the value addition of farmer production. The buyer-seller dialogue is relative.

In the technical session of the workshop, guidance was received from Padmashree Kanwal Singh, Padmashree Sethpal Singh, Padmashree Laxman Singh, Chairman of Gauseva Commission Shyam Bihari Gupta, Principal Scientist of CERI Pilani Dr. Rishi Sharma, Dr. Praveen Singh, Dr. ON Tripathi from ICAR, Dr. Anil Tomar, Dr. Om Tyagi, Dr. Kuldeep Tripathi, Dr. Varun Yadav from IIM Ahmedabad, Ashish Pandey from IIT Roorkee, Treasurer of Deendayal Research Institute Vasant Pandit, Senior Scientist of CSIR Dr. Puneet Chauhan on the topics of natural and organic farming, technology and market integration and traditional small scale processing in groups.

In a presidential address during the closing session, Nikhil Mundale said that to provide sustainable agriculture practices, for the farmers, a common platform has to be created by the Government so that financial support, training and technology help and strengthen farmer-buyer-seller relations where all parties can come along and communicate with one another.
