Silchar : Pranabananda International School observed International Yoga Day and World Music Day with great enthusiasm, purpose, and unity. The celebration began with an inspiring address by the Principal, Dr. Partha Pradip Adhikari, who highlighted the deeper significance of the occasion.
He remarked, “The importance of this day in our lives is that we must give respect to our heritage, not just because it is a part of our identity, but because it helps us stay healthy, connected with the universal soul, and focused on our goals.
Only then can we grow into good human beings and contribute meaningfully to society.” He also emphasised the relevance of the Bhagavad Gita in relation to Yoga, stating that its 17 chapters, where Lord Krishna explores the essence of life, are nothing but manifestations of Yoga.
The day unfolded with a special yoga session under the expert guidance of the school’s Physical Education Instructor, Sifu Rupak Das. He led students through a series of yoga asanas and breathing exercises, demonstrating postures inspired by animals such as the cobra, lion, and peacock. The entire school community students and teachers alike participated with enthusiasm, embracing the physical and spiritual benefits of yoga.
A highlight of the event was the Yoga Display Competition, held among the school’s five houses — Agni, Vayu, Jal, Bhoomi, and Akash. Each house showcased a synchronised and creative yoga performance, judged on discipline, presentation, and originality. The top three performers from each house were honoured with certificates and prizes for their outstanding displays of skill and unity.
Later, the school celebrated World Music Day with equal excitement. A music competition was organized among the same five houses, where students presented traditional, folk, and patriotic songs, including melodious renditions reflecting the cultural richness of Assam. The competition not only revealed the students’ musical talents but also promoted harmony, creativity, and cultural appreciation.
The winners of both competitions were felicitated with certificates and prizes by Dr. Partha Pradip Adhikari, along with other esteemed faculty members. In his closing remarks, he applauded the participants’ dedication and creativity and encouraged students to carry forward the values of wellness and art in their daily lives.
The event concluded with a soulful performance by the school’s gifted music teacher, Miss Poonam Deb, whose melodious voice left the audience spellbound. Her song served as a fitting tribute to the universal language of music.
The entire programme was compered by English faculty member Ms. Manjusha Purkayastha and the two Registrars of the school, Mr. Panna Paul and Mr. Roshan Chanda.
The celebration was a memorable fusion of health and harmony, reflecting the school’s mission to nurture body, mind, and spirit, preparing students not only for academic excellence but also for meaningful living.
