Silchar : In a significant push towards urban infrastructure development, Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakraborty on Sunday convened a meeting with officials and contractors associated with the Chief Minister’s Urban Road Development Scheme. The meeting was held to review progress and expedite the commencement of construction work on 23 new roads sanctioned for Silchar town.

Present in the meeting were contractors awarded the project work, officials of the Public Works Department (PWD), including the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO), and site engineers. MLA Chakraborty discussed project timelines, implementation strategies, and site-specific concerns.
He directed the concerned parties to carry out site inspections within the next 10 days and begin construction work in accordance with the approved plans. Emphasizing the importance of timely completion and quality control, the MLA reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening urban connectivity and easing traffic movement across Silchar.
The initiative is part of a broader mission under the Chief Minister’s scheme to upgrade urban roads and improve civic infrastructure in key towns across Assam.
