Jatinga : Due to a landslide near the Jatinga Lampu railway station, truck drivers and their helpers stranded in the area received food assistance through the personal initiative of Amendu Hojai, Executive Member of the Dima Hasao Autonomous Council.

Following the landslide near the Jatinga Lampu railway station, under the Dima Hasao district, nearly a thousand trucks have remained stuck for the past week along a 20-kilometer stretch from Bandarkhal to Jatinga Lampu.

Along with the trucks, around 1,400 to 1,500 drivers and helpers have been stranded. While some of them have food supplies but no means to cook, others have nothing at all. In this critical situation, for the first time, Amendu Hojai, an Executive Member of the Dima Hasao Autonomous Council, took the initiative to distribute cooked food to the stranded drivers and helpers entirely from his personal efforts.

Hojai’s team has been tirelessly distributing cooked food, traveling four to five kilometers by vehicle, both day and night. The stranded drivers and helpers who hail from various states across the country have expressed heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for Amendu Hojai’s selfless service.
