A special documentary film showcasing the inspiring life and valor of Capt Neikezhakuo Kengurüse, MVC (P) was screened for all attendees

Kohima, Nagaland :The Indian Army and Assam Rifles solemnly observed the 26th Memorial Day of Captain Neikezhakuo Kengu rüse, Maha Vir Chakra (Posthumous), the Hero of Nagaland, who made supreme sacrifice during the Kargil War – 1999, at a poignant memorial ceremony held at the Kengurüse War Memorial, Nerhe Phezha in Kohima district of Nagaland.

The event was graced by Major General Manish Kumar, SM*, Inspector General Assam Rifles (North), as the Chief Guest along with the proud parents of the braveheart, Mr and Mrs Neiselie Kengurüse, other family members, villagers, veterans and ex-servicemen from Wokha and Kohima, personnel from the Indian Army and Assam Rifles, SP Kohima, civil dignitaries and students from Don Bosco School, Chiephebozou, Fernbrook School, Wokha, G Rio Higher Secondary School, Kohima and Assam Rifles Public School, Chieswema.

All attendees paid homage by laying floral tributes and ceremonial laying of wreaths by the Chief Guest, followed by the lighting of the Amar Jawan Jyoti.

As a special gesture, upholding the highest tradition of the Indian Army, pleasantries were shared with the parents of Capt Kenguruse, as a mark of respect, by the personnel 2 RAJPUTANA RIFLES, Capt Kenguruse’s Battalion and 5/5 GR, from the Kargil region, where the battle was fought.

Highly enthusiastic girl cadets of 1 Naga Battalion, Kohima and Proud ex-servicemen presented a shining marchpast on the scintillating Pipe Band tunes of Fernbrook School and Assam Rifles. A special felicitation of Mr. and Mrs. Kengurüse was held to honour their strength and their son’s legacy.

As a symbol of service beyond the battlefield, Neiselie Kengurüse inaugurated the “Capt N Kengurüse, MVC Medical Camp”, a community outreach effort by Assam Rifles to serve the local populace in memory of the fallen hero & also unveiled a biography of the braveheart ‘Nimbu Saaab’ co-authored by his elder brother Mr. Neingthoulie Kenguruse.

The event concluded with a strong sense of patriotic pride and deep reverence, reaffirming the commitment of Assam Rifles to honour its valiant heroes and inspire future generations.
