Diphu : In light of the rising water levels and continuous rainfall across various parts of Karbi Anglong, the District Administration has taken prompt and coordinated steps to respond to the emerging flood-like situation.

Nirola Phangchopi, District Commissioner of Karbi Anglong, has urged all concerned departments to remain alert and take immediate action. She emphasized the importance of preparedness and timely response to safeguard lives and property.

Mansoor Ahmed, Additional District Commissioner and in-charge of Relief and Rehabilitation, has been entrusted with leading follow-up actions and ensuring coordinated relief efforts.  Reports from the field confirm that several areas have been impacted. In particular, the increasing water level of the Dhansiri River has led to flooding in Tengahola Basti under Ghorialdubi Revenue Village, affecting a total of 63 houses as per the initial assessment by the Diphu Field Officer.

Meanwhile, district staff has visited affected areas in Okreng to assess the situation, and a vaccination camp was conducted at Lower Mohendijwa to prevent the spread of zoonotic diseases. In Nilip, a few cattle have reportedly been washed away by rising waters.

Additionally, flash floods triggered by incessant rainfall have caused significant damage to infrastructure. Causeway No. 10/1 on the Chowkihola–Tarapung road has been washed away, while the approach roads to Causeways No. 2/1 and 3/1 on the Santilangso–Chatiana road have also been destroyed, culvert No. 8/2 on the Koilamati–Phangcherop road was similarly damaged; including several parts of Bokajan and Diphu’s Panbari, Sitalabari locality.

All departments have been reminded to report damages and updates using the DRIMS format previously shared, and officials are in the process of collecting geo-tagged photographs to support assessment and planning for relief and restoration work.

The District Administration continues to closely monitor the situation and appeals to the public to stay alert and follow all advisories issued through official channels.
